How does it work?

We have a multi gigabyte database of results. So when you click on calculate we just retrieve the number from the database. This is how it is so fast. It also means that unlike software that calculates figures on the fly we can be much more thorough, and apply fewer assumptions, simplifications and estimations. So hopefully our results are the most accurate.

How did you create the database?

We have had a grid of machine running multiply simulations of games of poker and storing the results. These results are then uploaded into the database on the Web server to give you access. This process is computationally highly intensive, especially for the situations where there are all 7 cards known.

How accurate is it?

Look at the Error returned. We are 95% sure that the odds of you winning is between Odd-Error and Odds+Error. I.e. if Odds is 25% and Error is +/- 4% it means that we are 95% sure that the odds of you winning are between 21% and 29%.

Do you have a screen reader so I do not have to enter the cards dealt manually?

No! If you want one of these you will have to purchase one of the commercial versions. If you would like to write one for the database send us an email! We are not intending to write one, as this was primarily a research project in handling large calculations.

What about draws?

Draws are very interesting. Although you would not think that they were very significant, on occasion they are. For example if there are 4 Aces in the River, it is going to be a draw between everyone!!! i.e. even if you have 2 and 7, you will draw with someone who has a pair of Kings! We handle this by giving results like this a fraction of a win when calculating the odds. So in this example each hand would be given 0.1 wins.

Will it always be free?

Probably. It will be unless it becomes so popular that the bandwidth and CPU requirements become too large, and the advertising income does not cover that.

Do you guarantee the results?

NO! We have not done any extensive testing, nor cross checked to any other source. You use this information at your own risk and cost.

I saw a result and it looks wrong. What should I do?

Firstly if it looks wrong, it quite possibly is, so ignore it! Then email us the hand that looked wrong and we will check it. We can easily do this as we have available much more detailed information that the 2 numbers we show you for that hand. Before sending us what you think is an error think about it though. The strangest odds normally appear when there are very strong cards in the river. E.g. 3 of a kind etc... As there is quite a high chance of a draw, or someone getting 4 of a kind.

I have an idea for an improvement. Can I send it too you?

Sure, we are always interested. However, the chances of us doing it are small! We are not making any money out of this site. However, if you have an idea, and the skill, and time to implement it, then send us the details of the idea, and some examples of other sites you have worked on and we might agree to work together.
